Whiskey Rising intends to tell the story of whiskey, and its continuing modern evolution. More than anything, Whiskey Rising views whiskey as quintessential to the American spirit and story. While most products out there share their background origin, whiskey speaks to us more profoundly.

Everything about whiskey imbues it with subtle clues regarding its background. Subtle hints lurk within or open up, hit us straight away or require us to pull them out. The water, the grains, the mash bill, the distilling and aging process, the climate…even the intention of the producer itself imprint themselves on and within the drink.

Drinking whiskey requires knowledge, understanding and openness. It also requires determination and patience. Part ballet dancer and part heavyweight boxer, whiskey requires us to be engaged. Drinking it is part detective game, and part research as well as fellow dancer and boxer. Not all whiskey is perfect or great, but when it is few things in this world reach such a level.

But why so important to the American story and spirit? Two events – the Whiskey Rebellion and Prohibition. What better encapsulations of the American story exist than those two events?
